Manchester United to make incredible £127m bid for superstar

Manchester United are expected to make an incredible bid for one of the best defenders in the world in the summer transfer window according to reports.
When you look at the current Manchester United squad one glaringly obvious factor stands out. The Red Devils are without a truly great defender. Throughout the history of the club, the Red Devils have had a plethora of icons who guarded the United goal at the centre of defence. From the likes of Roger Bryne to Martin Buchan, Steve Bruce and Rio Ferdinand, United have always had that stalwart figure at the heart of the defence.
Often the above mentioned figures were the spine of the great sides which they represented. They were reliable, solid and calm under the pressure. Many a times they thwarted attacks with ease and helped the Red Devils to a hoard of trophies in the process.
Currently Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has no one of that calibre in his team. Harry Maguire was purchased for a hefty fee in the summer, but he is not the leader and dominant centre back that Manchester United need. Maguire is an excellent defender nonetheless he needs an even better partner to get the best out of him.
It seems Solskjaer himself has realised that problem. The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Napoli and Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the past. The towering centre back is regarded as one of the best defenders in the world.
Earlier this season Kalidou Koulibaly put in a commanding display against Liverpool in which he managed to keep Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane at bay.
And now according to Corriere dello Sport via the Daily Mirror it seems that Napoli ‘might be forced to sell’ Kalidou Koulibaly as the club’s chances of playing European football next season seem rather slim. The report has linked United with a potential £127 million bid which is what Napoli currently value their star player at.
It would be a mighty fee to pay for the Red Devils, however Kalidou Koulibaly could have a transformative impact on the team much like Virgil Van Dijk had at arch rivals Liverpool.
What do you think should Manchester United sign Kalidou Koulibaly?
