Manchester United to sign sensational former player
By Bence Bocsak
It seems Manchester United are so desperate in a bid to strengthen the club in January they could bring back one of their former players.
Imagine this. The year is 2008. Sir Alex Ferguson is in charge of Manchester United. The Red Devils are top of the Premier League. Their squad boasts stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra. The club are at the pinnacle of the game. They are European Champions. The team to beat. They have a team full of world class talent. All is well at Old Trafford
The mighty have had a calamitous fall since then. Looking back the last few years under Sir Alex Ferguson it now seems like a distant idyllic memory. You almost have to pinch yourself as a Manchester United fan and ask yourself; did it really happen?
How have the club gone from European Champions to competing in the Europa League and struggling to beat teams like Burnley?
On top of that United are suffering a disastrous spell with injuries and they are failing to recruit players and attract their targets to the club. A great example of this would be the recent failure to sign Bruno Fernandes.
Not many players from the 2008 European Champions squad still play football. The vast majority have hung up their boots and have gone onto pastures new.
However Carlos Tevez is still kicking a football about professionally. Much have occurred to his career since 2008. An infamous switch to United’s arch rivals Manchester City is just one of them.
The Argentine has gone onto score at World Cups, play for Juventus and also in China before returning to his beloved boyhood club Boca Juniors.
At 35 years old Carlos Tevez is still performing at a high level and with United still desperate to attract a striker to the team it seems that according to TuttoSport via The Daily Mail the Red Devils are considering a ‘loan swoop’ for their former player.
The move would be surprising but there have been spectacular returns to former clubs in the past. Thierry Henry famously came back to Arsenal as a veteran. Carlos Tevez could finally redeem himself to the United faithful.
Yet one would hope United would also make other recruits. Especially with Edinson Cavani available.
What do you think should Manchester United sign Carlos Tevez?
