Manchester United set to miss out on key target to Real Madrid

It seems Manchester United will not be signing one of their key midfield targets as he is expected to join Spanish giants Real Madrid instead.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a man on a mission. Some would call it a daring, others desperate mission. His aim is to get Manchester United back to where the Red Devils belong. It is an endeavour that many of the worlds’ best managers have failed to accomplish. From Louis Van Gaal to Jose Mourinho, men have come to conquer Old Trafford but they left with bitter smiles and miserable failures.

The Red Devils are a tough team to crack.

The club from top to bottom has lacked clear and coherent direction over the last number of years. Ever since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson there hasn’t been a figure to glue the whole structure together.

The United squad at the moment is nowhere near the quality it should be. The defence is leaking goals and the midfield is an incoherent unit lacking flair and steel. Many teams have exploited the Red Devils this season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had to swallow some embarrassing results.

Yet the Norwegian has not given up. Not all hope is lost it seems.

The Manchester United manager is desperate to rebuild the squad and bring in depth and quality.

One of his main coveted targets has been the Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

The young Dutch international was instrumental in leading Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals and he seems to possess all the right qualities to become a superb box to box midfielder. Donny van de Beek has the strength, the stamina and the technical ability to put him ahead of his opponents.

However it seems the Dutchman will not be coming to Old Trafford. According to Dutch outlet de Telegraaf via AS English, Donny van de Beek has agreed to move to Real Madrid in the summer.

That will come as a huge blow in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s mission. Though however, not all hope is lost as United are edging close to completing a deal for another midfielder.
