Manchester United: Solskjaer to make double signing from rivals
By Bence Bocsak
The Manchester United boss has set his sights on two players from the Red Devils’ arch rivals and could bring them to the club in January.
At Old Trafford in the sparkling floodlights of the theatre of dreams the players and the fans are slowly becoming disillusioned with the club. Manchester United are no longer the giants of the football world they once were. In fact they are being threatened to become minnows. Such a rapid fall from grace has hardly happened in the history of football. Perhaps the only one which comes close is the decline of Liverpool from the beginning of the 1990s and onwards.
The Merseyside Reds failed to win a league title for over 30 years following their decline and the same plight could happen to Manchester United if the club do not act quickly and accordingly. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team is decrepit and lacking the quality and the spark needed for the top teams in the Premier League.
Something needs to change quickly at Old Trafford if the club are serious about returning the Red Devils to the top of English football. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who endured a hugely successful spell with the club as a player lifting one trophy after another will be determined more than anyone to ensure it happens.
However that will mean the Norwegian boss will need to bring in some reinforcements and bolster his squad to give it the injection it needs.
It seems 40 miles north of Manchester Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has found two ideal candidates in his mission to return the Red Devils back to the top. According to the Football Insider via the Daily Express Manchester United are targeting Leeds United duo, in midfielder Kalvin Phillips and defender Ben White.
The pair have been two of the best players in the Championship this season whilst playing under the charismatic Marcelo Bielsa.
United are short in both central midfield and centre back positions. Kalvin Phillips could be a hugely exciting addition to the Red Devils. He is highly rated and a great energetic and robust midfielder who is even being considered for an England call-up by Gareth Southgate via the Daily Mail. Meanwhile Ben White is a young centre back who has been solid and is excellent on the ball. He could be an ideal partner to Harry Maguire at the centre of the United defence.
What do you think would Ben White and Kalvin Phillips be good signings for Manchester United?
