Manchester United could re-enter the race for Tottenham target

Manchester United were once linked with the current Tottenham target and now that he is available on the market, they could try to lure him to Old Trafford.

Without a shadow of a doubt one thing is certain at Old Trafford. The club are in desperate need for an out and out forward. The Manchester United board have failed to replace Romelu Lukaku who departed in the summer. While Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have done well playing in the number nine role, it is clear they are more suited to playing on the wing.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was purportedly desperate to land Erling Haaland earlier this month, but his attempts were to no avail. Haaland ending up signing for Borussia Dortmund and now the club are left scratching their heads.

Who could they possibly target in order to add that desperately needed firepower to their attacking force?

The question is one which the Manchester United board are desperately trying to ponder right now as they sit in their cozy offices at Old Trafford. Yet the solution and the answer may be simple.

According to Calciomercato via Sports Mole, back in late October the Red Devils were considering a January move for Krzysztof Piatek. Currently he is being coveted by Tottenham Hotspur who are desperately in need of a Harry Kane replacement.

But United are desperate too and Krzysztof Piatek is being offered up on the cheap. The Polish forward has not been as prolific as he was last season and has fallen down the pecking order at a struggling AC Milan but he is still a good punt for the price he is being offered at. He is only 24 too with plenty of time to improve.

Piatek is a born goalscorer and a hungry fighter on the pitch. His energy and ability to find the back of the net with both feet could make him a formidable presence at Old Trafford. His towering height also adds an added aerial threat to the Manchester United attack which has been non-existent since the departure of Romelu Lukaku.

The fact that by pouncing on Krzysztof Piatek United could also be wrecking their old foe Jose Mourinho’s transfer plans could just be the cherry on top of the cake.
