Manchester United: Solskjaer identifies perfect Harry Maguire back-up
By Bence Bocsak
With the Manchester United defender set to be ruled out for an extensive period it seems Solskjaer has already found his replacement in the transfer window.
Harry Maguire has been a core member of the Manchester United team since he arrived at Old Trafford in the summer. There was a lot of pressure heaped on his shoulders with a hefty price tag of £80 million and the mission to bring stability to a rocky and often scandalous Manchester United defence.
The challenge did not faze Harry Maguire. He is well aware of his ability and is adored by England supporters for his performances in the World Cup which helped the country to a semi-final finish.
Whilst it has not been smooth sailing for Harry Maguire so far since arriving at Old Trafford, he has delivered some of the promises expected of him. He has been a stalwart presence at the centre of defence and has commanded the backline well. Unfortunately, Harry Maguire has not been able to prevent the occasional slip up here and there, but with time and perhaps a more capable partner that may come too.
Therefore when the news of Maguire’s injury broke it filled the Old Trafford faithful with dread. Now that the lengthy extent of his injury has already been revealed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be facing yet another conundrum. The Norwegian boss will have to find an adequate replacement in place of Maguire and bring him to Old Trafford as quickly as possible.
It seems however that the first part of the action plan might already be done. According to TuttoMercato via the Daily Express Manchester United are chasing 19 year old Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla.
The Albanian centre back has only recently broken through the ranks as a regular member of the Hellas Verona team but he has caught the eye with some impressive performances and proven himself in a physically tough and demanding league.
What do you think could Marash Kumbulla be the right temporary replacement for Harry Maguire?
