Manchester United scouting Romelu Lukaku replacement

It seems Manchester United have finally identified the ideal replacement for their former star striker Romelu Lukaku and could make a move in January.

After a twenty seven goal haul during his first season at Manchester United, there was a sense of optimism around Old Trafford. In Romelu Lukaku the club seemed to have found a true world class striker. A generational talent who was destined to score goals and who would soon become a legend at Old Trafford.

Only that never came to fruition, instead Lukaku would experience second season blues at Old Trafford and would only net 15 goals in all competitions. That number is still not a bad return, but it is not quite the numbers the big Belgian had struck at Everton or West Bromwich Albion in the past. Neither is it the numbers Manchester United expect from their strikers.

The bulky figure seemed to have lost his touch and his place in the team too. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s system built on counter attacking did not suit Romelu Lukaku’s style of play.

The Belgian forward thus departed the club in the summer. Romelu Lukaku signed for Inter Milan where he has one again been back to his best goalscoring form with 14 goals in 18 Serie A games so far this season.

Meanwhile the United board have been left scratching their heads. The club failed to replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer and currently have a shortage of players upfront.

After missing out on Erling Haaland earlier this winter, United have been forced to look elsewhere for a Romelu Lukaku replacement and it seems they may have just found their man.

According to the Daily Mail Manchester United have been ‘scouting’ the Lyon forward Moussa Dembele alongside Chelsea. The Red Devils seemed to be keen on bringing attacking reinforcements to the club and Moussa Dembele could be the perfect addition.

The French striker is a prolific goalscorer who has some Premier League experience as well as playing in Britain regularly for Celtic. Since making the step-up to Lyon, Moussa Dembele has not disappointed either and has already scored ten goals this season in Ligue One.

Still just 23 years of age, the young forward has plenty of time to develop too.
