Victor Lindelof is establishing himself as a fans favourite

After another top display on the weekend from the Iceman that is Victor Lindelof, it seems as though the Swede has certainly fully settled into life at Manchester United. His performance levels over the past couple of months have increased rapidly.

Since Solskjaer has come in, the defence has looked slightly more vulnerable, however, the absence of Chris Smalling from the back four is a bigger blow than people often realise. And it is Smalling who Lindelof has his best relationship with. In games against the top six of the past, Smalling was the man to deal with the focal point, like Harry Kane, whilst Lindelof dealt with those playing off him.

The fact Lindelof has been able to carry on his form since Smalling’s injury is testament to the quality player he has become. His whole-hearted display on Sunday will only increase his approval from the Old Trafford faithful, who have previous strong rapport with a number of United’s legendary centre-backs.

For a moment against Tottenham Lindelof was reminiscent of one of those legends, Nemanja Vidic. His crunching tackle on Harry Winks was similar to that of Vidic’s on Kyle Walker in 2013.
