Manchester United target Marko Arnautovic

With the Premier League season ending, the summer transfer window opens. Thus, it is up to Jose Mourinho to secure names for the 2018/19 roster.

Since Manchester United finished second, the 2017/18 was successful. However, there are still many spots needing filled. As many names become associated with the club, Mourinho must make a signing this summer. Furthermore, Marko Arnautovic became a rumored target Mourinho hopes to sign.

Before the 2017/18 season, Arnautovic played for relegated side Stoke City. Additionally, Arnautovic secured a move to West Ham this past season where he found his form and became big for West Ham United.

Now, Mourinho scouts the West Ham forward in hopes to utilize him on the right wing. Most positions on the field are filled at Manchester United, but the right wing beckons for the right one. Mourinho used multiple players on the right wing this season, but it appears that the boss must look for an outsider.

The outcome of the summer transfer window will determine how the new season will go. If Mourinho cannot secure many signings, it is likely that the new season will be similar to the past season. With the signing of Arnautovic, it is likely that Manchester United will look much stronger to the opposition.

Marko Arnautovic stats: 2017/18

In his 31 appearances this season, the forward managed 11 goals and six assists. In addition, the forward had 684 passes on the season, which equates to about 22 passes per match. Normally, forwards are not the passers of the team, so his low pass total should not scare Manchester United fans away from Arnautovic.

Also, the forward had 71 shots for the whole season, and 33 of them were on target. The forward’s shooting accuracy comes out to about 46%.

In the end, Mourinho is the only one that knows who he will sign next. This rumor is the first of many that will come during the summer transfer window. Going into the summer, the pressure mounts on Mourinho to make a signing. Compared to last summer transfer window, it appears unlikely that any big names will come to Manchester United. However, the summer transfer window is full of surprises.
