Manchester United: Who should Mourinho sign in the transfer window?
By Wyatt Miner
With the winter transfer window coming up, Jose Mourinho has plenty of options. Who should Manchester United make a move for?
As the Premier League season progresses, it has become more apparent that there needs to be a signing in January. For example, former managers, players, and fans all agree that Mourinho’s style of play is boring. Maybe that is because Mourinho is missing key pieces in his starting eleven.
If Manchester United are to win the league, a signing must be made. In addition to the signing, Mourinho needs to make a strong push for first place, After all, half the season is already over. Manchester City has taken a commanding lead in England, and United could make a run for the silverware. Who will Mourinho sign? Will it be the difference in first or second place?
Defense — Alex Sandro
Manchester United has a solid back line for the most part, but the left-back position seems to be lacking. For this position, Alex Sandro would be an excellent fit. Rumors of the Brazilian surfaced before. Additionally, his dynamic style of play would add to both defense and offense. United should sign well-rounded players, and Sandro would definitely play a big impact on United’s eleven.
Midfield — Gareth Bale
Yes, this signing may be out there, but Bale transfer rumors have swarmed Manchester United before. Gareth Bale has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid for months now, and this window may be the best opportunity to secure his signature. With Mkhitaryan taking a back seat in the squad, Manchester United need a winger now. Gareth Bale may be just the man Mourinho is looking for.
Attack — Antoine Griezmann
Rumors of Griezmann to United surrounded the club for months. Paul Pogba has played a big role in United’s attempt to attract Griezmann to the club. The young Frenchman is a dynamic player who features many talents. He can do both; score and assist. As far as this list goes, Griezmann is the most realistic signing, and perhaps the most valuable.
Next: Jesse Lingard: United should be winning the league
In the end, the transfers discussed are all hypothetical. It would be nothing short of amazing if United were to sign at least one of these players in the winter window. Furthermore, the signing of just one of these players could lead to United becoming one of the most dominant forces in Europe again. Only Mourinho knows who he will pursue. Ultimately, supporters can only hope that he has his eyes on the right man for the job.
