When Matteo Darmian came in it looked like United had finally found the new Gary Neville. Good getting forward and reliable at the back. It’s fair to say his United career to date has been a bit shaky.
With Antonio Valencia approaching the end of his career and Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s career just starting, maybe Mourinho will look for a new fullback this window.
There aren’t many top class right backs knocking around at the moment. Just look at Barcelona’s rumoured interest in Glen Johnson.
Cedric Soares of Southampton would be an interesting prospect. Having adapted well to the Premiership since his move from Sporting Lisbon in Portugal, Cedric has many of the attributes that Mourinho will be looking for. He is solid at the back and has a good willingness to get forward.
