"WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K" - Manchester United fans embarrassed club reportedly asked Man City to accommodate flight
Manchester United fans are in uproar amid reports claiming the club asked Manchester City for space on a private jet to Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris. The Daily Mail reports that United asked their noisy neighbors whether Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo could join them on their booked private jet.
There was no space to accomodate the Red Devils' wonderkids and alternative arrangements are set to be made. This comes with INEOS' Sir Jim Ratcliffe taking a cost-cutting approach to the start of his co-ownership at Old Trafford.
INEOS have already made similar moves that have drawn criticism including terminating Sir Alex Ferguson's ambassadorial role. Ratcliffe told workers in the summer that 250 jobs would be cut to reduce spending, per The Independent.
The latest development has not gone down well with fans at all because of the rivalry held with City, with many deeming it embarrassing. There's also the clear indication of how the club views the young pair in comparison to the rest of the squad, offering them the flight ahead of others.
Manchester United fans lash out at latest cost-cutting initiative
Manchester United fans let loose on social media when the reports from the Mail's Mike Keegan dropped. It's already a gloomy period for the Red Devils who sit 12th in the Premier League and 21st in the UEFA Europa League table.
One fan is extremely concerned with events occuring at United:
"What the actual f**k is going on at the club?!?!"
Manchester United fan account mufcMPB wrote:
"This is genuinely EMBARRASSING."
Another fan opined:
"We've hit rock bottom."
One fan suggested INEOS might be worse than the much-maligned Glazer family:
"Bro INEOS might be worse than the Glazers."
Red Devil Armada Verdict
Manchester United fans need to be aware that these problems are a result of the diabolical ownership that came under the Glazers. The American business family are no longer making sporting decisions at Old Trafford with INEOS looking to rectify their long list of mistakes over the years.
That said, asking City of all clubs for help trying to save costs is an embarrassment. It's also strange to seemingly prioritise two players as it sends a message to the rest of the team regarding their status.
It also wasn't long ago when the Cityzens were linked with Mainoo amid his sensational breakout season. They were keeping tabs on the 19-year-old's situation at Old Trafford, per Metro, although he looks likely to be staying put with a new contract.
