Manchester United fans are not best pleased with Ruben Amorim's decision not to start one of his players for the second game in a row.

The Red Devils face Fulham today (August 24) at Craven Cottage and will be eager to get a positive result after their season-opening 1-0 loss to Arsenal. There were good signs in that game that Amorim will oversee a turnaround despite the defeat.

Amorim has named the team that will start against the Cottagers who could prove to be tricky opponents. While he has named Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha in the frontline he has again chose not to hand Benjamin Sesko his full debut.

Man United fans call Amorim's decision not to start Sesko a 'joke'

Sesko came on in the second half of the defeat at home to Arsenal and there wasn't enough time to assess his performance. But he is a big unit of a frontman who Amorim has stressed needs patience, with the onus being on Cunha and Mbeumo making instant impact signings.

Amorim is still unwilling to hand Sesko a start and has continued with Mason Mount as a makeshift forward. The English midfielder did impress in the role at Old Trafford last Sunday, linking up well with Cunha and Mbeumo.

Fans still aren't impressed with the Portuguese coach's decision to name the Slovenian striker on his bench.

One fan wrote:

"Do we sign Sesko just to sit on the bench ??? Amorim tactical genius strikes again! Same problem last season and here we go again this season. What a joke."

Another fan stated:

"What is Amorim smoking mate?? Why buy a striker and bench him ??"

One fan has tipped Amorim to lose his job if such decisions continue:

"Why is Sesko on the bench again? I think Amorim is too stubborn and may be gone by December."

Another wants a number nine leading the line from the off:

"Really don’t like not having a actual striker up front."

One supporter pointed out how the club pursued a new centre-forward:

"WTF is wrong with Amorim. Why is he keeping Sesko on the bench. Cried for a striker you found one now and you’re keeping him on the bench."

Sesko joined United from RB Leipzig in early August for £74m after beating Newcastle United to his signature. He didn't feature in the Reds' final pre-season game against Fiorentina but has trained with the camp since arriving.

Amorim: We need to be patient with Sesko

Amorim has already given his response to those criticising his decision to leave Sesko out of the starting XI against Fulham. He has highlighted giving the Slovenia international time to adjust (via Sky Sports):

“Sesko has been with us for two weeks, he is trying to understand everything. We need to be patient a little. We just want to win the match and try to help all our players.”

Sesko will probably hope it's not too long until he is regularly starting given he prioritised a move to Old Trafford over a possible Newcastle switch. But he seems to have the right mindset to want to develop and that may mean reduced minutes as he gets to grips with Premier League football.
