Thomas Tuchel has released his England squad for their upcoming fixtures against Croatia and Spain, with no Manchester United players included in the squad.

This makes it two England call-up squads in a row that no Manchester United player was selected, with Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford both pulling out of their fixtures in September and October in order to undergo individual recovery plans whilst the international break played out.

This time, however, no United players were called up whatsoever, not giving them the chance to blindside Tuchel by pulling out of the squad.

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), James Trafford (Leeds United), Jason Steele (Brighton)

Defenders: Ezri Konsa (Arsenal), Marc Guehi (Man City), Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Real Madrid), Lewis Hall (Newcastle United), Jarrell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen), Djed Spence (Inter Milan), Ben White (Arsenal)

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Jobe Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Josh King (Fulham), James Garner (Everton), Elliot Anderson (Man City), Eberechi Eze (Arsenal), Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal), Declan Rice (Arsenal)

Forwards: Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Leeds United), Anthony Gordon (Barcelona), Rio Ngumoha (Liverpool), Morgan Rogers (Chelsea)

Is this an opportunity for Carrick to regroup his squad?

With this international break being held from 9-17 November, Carrick and the rest of the staff will have some valuable training time where they will hope to break down barriers and figure out what has gone wrong this season.

Of course, not every first-team player will be available. Despite the likes of Luke Dhaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford, and Harry Maguire not being selected for Tuchel’s side, United has a strong cohort of different nations dotted around the squad, with the likes of Dermot Mee being offered his first Northern Ireland call-up.

It is highly likely that other stars will join Mee as they go away with their country. Andrey Santos has been selected by Carlo Ancelotti for Brazil; however, due to the South American nation only playing friendlies, the former Real Madrid manager has seen no reason to select Matheus Cunha.

Carrick will hope that a large portion of his first team is not selected, as his coaching staff try to get to the root of the problems they have faced this season.

Three wins from 13 have simply not been good enough, with United dangling precariously, sitting just above the relegation zone due to having a greater goal difference than Crystal Palace.

With United facing Aston Villa on Sunday at 4:30 pm, an embarrassing loss could even see Carrick dismissed, with the head coach under increasing pressure despite his side's win against Roma on Tuesday.

Following that, United will have exactly two weeks till they face off against their next opponents, an away trip down the M62 as they prepare to face off against rivals Liverpool.
