In anticipation of Sunday’s massive FA Cup quarter-final tie against Liverpool, Manchester United have received a double injury boost following the returns of Mason Mount and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Mason Mount, 25, has been on the sidelines since November due to a calf problem. The creative midfielder’s last appearance for Manchester United came in the 1-0 win over Luton Town at Old Trafford on November 11. Even though he resumed light training in December, the Englishman hasn’t been able to progress as quickly as he would have liked to.

In addition to Mount, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 26, was pictured in full training with teammates at the Carrington on Tuesday morning after two months out. The right-back has not played since the 2-2 home draw with Tottenham Hotspur on January 14 due to a leg complaint, missing the last nine games in the process.

Man United boss Erik ten Hag last week indicated that Wan-Bissaka would be able to face Liverpool in the FA Cup. However, it has not yet been confirmed if Mount will be fit for Sunday’s game, with Ten Hag suggesting during last week’s pre-Everton presser that the midfielder should be ready for action after the upcoming international break.

Red Devil Armada’s verdict:

It is great to see both Mount and Wan-Bissaka return to training ahead of our season’s arguably most important game.

Injury problems have not allowed Mount to stamp his authority in Ten Hag’s side following his summer switch from Chelsea. The England midfielder’s return should give a lot of energy and creativity to our team which has been ravaged by injuries all season long.

Wan-Bissaka’s return is also a big boost, and the potential availability of two natural full-backs should end Victor Lindelof’s inglorious stint at left-back. He will be hoping to keep himself fit for the rest of the campaign and deliver the goods, as we look to beat Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals and qualify for the Champions League.
