According to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale, Manchester United are among a host of Premier League clubs to have enquired about Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov.

Labelled as the best footballer in Ukraine, Georgiy Sudakov, 21, has been turning heads with his performances for Shakhtar Donetsk this season, leading to a transfer battle from some of the world’s biggest clubs ahead of the summer transfer window. The highly-rated midfielder, who has netted five goals and registered two assists in 24 games, has multiple enquires at his door from European outfits and five Premier League clubs have spoken to Shakhtar Donetsk about the possibility of a summer deal, Di Natale tweeted.

Manchester United, along with multiple top European clubs, have been scouting Sudakov this campaign. A supreme talent, Shakhtar value the 12-cap Ukrainian international at €100million, the Italian journalist added.

The Red Devils will bolster their squad during the summer transfer window, as new-part owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to move away from the Glazers’ approach of trying to buy success. Thus, the club’s alleged interest in Sudakov makes a lot of sense when you factor in his age, potential and profile.

Red Devil Armada’s verdict:

Sudakov is a sublime talent with huge potential, someone who could make a difference at our club. He has caught the eye with his performances in Ukraine and most notably scored in Shakhtar’s 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League group stage last October.

Shakhtar consider the 21-year-old as arguably their best player and want an exorbitant fee to sell him in the summer, having tied him down to a new contract until 2028. Sudakov certainly fits the bill in terms of what Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team are looking for, but I doubt they will be willing to take a gamble on him by breaking the bank during the most decisive summer transfer window.
