According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Manchester United are seriously considering an approach for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The Red Devils were heavily linked with Adrien Rabiot in the summer of 2022, but due to his exorbitant wage demands, ultimately decided to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid. Early last summer, the English club wanted the French midfielder, but a move didn’t materialise. Instead, they managed to secure a loan move for Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina with an option to buy on the transfer deadline day.

However, Amrabat is likely to return to Fiorentina at the end of the campaign, having failed to make an impact at Old Trafford. This may see Manchester United return to a familiar target to potentially replace Amrabat in the middle of the park. Rudy Galetti states Rabiot is a “concrete option as a free agent” for the 20-time English champions, with Benfica star Joao Neves and AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana among the targets.

Rabiot, 29, signed for Juventus from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 but his initial contract expired last summer. After initially struggling to convince him to stay at the club, the midfielder only signed a one-year contract extension. Now, with Juventus manager Max Allegri likely to leave at the end of the season, Rabiot has seemingly decided against extending his stay at the club again and leave once his current deal expires in June.

As a result, Man United are very much interested in pouncing at the opportunity and bringing Rabiot to Old Trafford as a free agent this summer to fortify their midfield unit.

Red Devil Armada’s verdict:

It is clear Man United have kept tabs on Rabiot and are watching his situation closely at Juventus. New co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is aiming to overhaul the squad after a poor Premier League campaign. The midfield overhaul would see fresh blood pumped into the squad and also the exits of experienced campaigners such as Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Sofyan Amrabat and Scott McTominay.

Given his volumes of experience at the highest level, both at club and international level, Rabiot on a potential free transfer would be a smart signing for our club.
