Manchester United face Nottingham Forest on Saturday in the Premier League, as they hope to round off their 2023 with a win.

The Red Devils were triumphant in their last match, as they bounced back from 2 goals down to win 3-2 against high flying Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Forest are the final opponents of 2023 for Erik Ten Hag’s side. Every fixture is crucial at the moment for the Dutchman as he looks to impress the new owners.

The opponents recently changed managers themselves, with Steve Cooper leaving to make way for Nuno Espírito Santo. The former Wolves manager impressed with a 3-1 away victory against Newcastle United, despite losing his first match as manager a few days prior.

Here is the expected lineup against Nottingham Forest:

André Onana is expected to start in what should be the Cameroonian’s last game before he departs for AFCON.

Diogo Dalot should start on his comfortable side and be a force against Hudson-Odoi.

Jonny Evans has been rolling back the years and should end the year strong by starting again.

Raphael Varane featured in the last outing, so the same centreback pairing is to be expected on Saturday.

Sergio Reguilon should start in the absence of Luke Shaw.

Kobbie Mainoo, despite only having a handful of senior appearances, is holding the midfield down in recent games and should start.

Scott McTominay did not start the last game, but two games in a short span would prove to be too soon for Christian Eriksen.

Alejandro Garnacho bagged a brace when he started on the right side against Villa, and should start there again to be troublesome for Harry Toffolo.

Bruno Fernandes was one of United’s best players in the last outing and will captain the side for the last time in 2023.

Marcus Rashford could be in line for a place in the starting 11 after having his most impressive game in recent times against Villa.

Rasmus Højlund was on the scoresheet on Tuesday, and will be looking to round off the year in fashionable style with at least another goal.

Expected lineup: Onana - Dalot, Evans, Varane, Reguilon - Mainoo, McTominay - Garnacho, Bruno, Rashford - Højlund.
