Paul Pogba left Manchester United for the second time in his career in the summer of 2022 after receiving plenty of criticsm from the media and fans. The French midfielder was booed by a section of supporters in a clash with Norwich City after news of his departure came to light.

The 32-year-old is one of several players who incurred the wrath of fans and the press during their time at United. A larger than life personality can irritate those watching the Red Devils, especially if you aren't hitting expectations while earning a fortune.

Pogba will go down as one of the most polarising players to ever play for the club but there were some moments to cherish. He was part of a team that won the League Cup and Europa League under Jose Mourinho and he shared a dressing room with an academy graduate who the club have decided to part ways with.

Marcus Rashford seemed destined for greatness when he burst onto the scene aged 18 in the Europa League in February 2016. He was shining at youth level and given a chance to impress with the first team which he took with aplomb.

It wasn't long until Rashford was earning regular game time and eventually becoming a talisman at the Theatre of Dreams. There were hopes that he'd be the heir to Wayne Rooney and help fire United back to to the top of English football.

That hasn't happened amid several controversies, constant managerial changes and question marks over his professionalism. But his former teammate Pogba is in doubt over who is getting the better part of the Englishman's loan switch to Barcelona.

Pogba told YouTuber and United fan IShowSpeed during a stream (via Speedy HQ):

“That’s crazy. I’m happy for him because they took his number out. Man United, they’re losing a great player, unlucky for them. Great for Barcelona. I’m not even talking about Manchester United, because they’re bought a few players and the new manager [Amorim] wants to do his thing, I guess. So, it’s not really his fault.”

Rashford has joined La Liga champions Barca on a season long loan with the option to buy for £26m. The Catalans have agreed to pay all of the 27-year-old's £325,000 per week wages, per The Mirror.

Ruben Amorim was at loggerheads not long into his arrival at United as head coach. He felt the English forward wasn't committed enough and hinted that he wasn't reaching the standards he requires of his players.

We never got to see what actually led to Amorim exiling Rashford from the first team and deciding to ultimately end his United career. It was a strange development that went down during the winter when the Englishman was dropped for the Manchester Derby.

Rashford gave an interview telling English journalist Henry Winter that he was "ready for a new challenge", per Sky Sports. He said he didn't have a bad word to say about his boyhood club but that certainly wasn't the case for Amorim who continuously took subtle digs at the player even when he headed on loan to Aston Villa.

Pogba went through a similar ordeal during Mourinho's reign in charge in September 2018. The pair got into a heated exchange at Carrington a day after the French World Cup winner was stripped of the vice-captaincy.

Player power has been a problem in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era but respect does go both ways. It's a sad end to Rashford's Untied career and he'll be a player who we now look back on and ponder what could have been.
