"Nothing works there" - Paulo Di Canio urges Manchester United star to join Serie A giants on loan

Paulo Di Canio has given a grim verdict on Manchester United's signing of Joshua Zirkzee. The iconic former West Ham United striker thinks the Dutch forward should make a quick exit from Old Trafford.

Paulo Di Canio has told Juventus to try and sign Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee on loan. The Italian slammed the Red Devils' recruitment and argued that the Premier League is too slow for the Netherlands international . He told Tuttosport:

"Nothing works there, not even Zirkzee. He’s too slow for the Premier League. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong with goals and big performances, but in there [EPL], defenders are aggressive, and there are 30% fewer fouls [than in Serie A]."

Di Canio feels United already have options in attack in Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford. He thinks Zirkzee, formerly of Fiorentina, would be a perfect alternative to Dusan Vlahovic:

"“There’s so much confusion at Man United that they could even give him away on loan. They already have Hojlund and Rashford, who play in that position. He would be an ideal profile and give Motta a player with a different skill sets from Vlahovic. I’d start negotiations now—a loan with an option to buy. Zirkzee is not a deadly finisher; he won’t score 25 goals, but he makes his teammates play well.”"

Zirkzee arrived from Fiorentina in the summer in a £35.3 million deal. He'd impressed at Viola Park last season, with 12 goals and seven assists in 37 games, helping Raffaele Palladino's side qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The 23-year-old kickstarted his Manchester United career with a goal on his debut in a 1-0 win against Fulham in the team's season opener. He came off the bench to net a vital winner, and fans were optimistic that the striker would quickly adapt to life at Old Trafford.

Zirkzee has since failed to replicate that performance and is without a goal in his last nine outings. He's shown glimpses of promise but has also been extremely wasteful, lacking a goalscoring prowess that has plagued Erik ten Hag's side.

Manchester United's dismal start to the season has them sitting 14th after seven games. Ten Hag's men have made their worst start to a Premier League campaign and a lack of goals has been problematic.

Red Devil Armada Verdict

It's unlikely United will be open to loaning or selling Zirkzee so soon after bringing the Dutch attacker to Old Trafford. He's struggling for form but fans may just need to be patient as the team is enduring a problems across the pitch.
