Manchester United have seemingly gone all-in to sign Bryan Mbeumo, but with no deal in place yet, they have potentially risked missing out on other transfers.
This time last week, Mbeumo-to-Man United felt like a done deal. They boldly set a deadline to get the transfer completed by July 7, but it still hasn't happened. In the meantime, a potential alternative transfer target to Mbeumo has his heart set on a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus isn't interested in talking to any other teams as he is pushing for a move to Spurs.
It's unclear whether Kudus is on United's radar, which is unsurprising, given their strong interest in signing Mbeumo.
Tottenham could add even more pressure on Man United to sign Bryan Mbeumo
Spurs seemingly pivoted to Kudus after realizing Mbeumo wanted to join Man United. Tottenham had been linked to the Brentford forward, who could offer Champions League football and a reunion with Thomas Frank. United seemingly won that transfer battle, although they still haven't signed him.
And the pressure is building. Kudus would be a perfect backup plan if United can't make a deal for Mbeumo, but it's now looking unlikely due to his desire to join Tottenham.
Kudus is a rising star. He can play across the front three or as a No. 10, and has contributed 13 goals and 12 assists in 65 games for West Ham. Spurs will likely use him on the left or right side of their front three, creating opportunities for Dominic Solanke.
His ability to play on the right would've made him an ideal target for United if they were unable to sign Mbeumo.
If Kudus joins Tottenham, there will be even more pressure on United to meet Brentford's demands and get a deal finalized as soon as possible. United desperately need a forward who can play on the right, and a new addition to play the No. 9 role.
They are quickly running out of time.
