This would be a complete and total disaster. As things stand, Manchester United is still in the hunt to pull off the huge transfer for superstar forward Viktor Gyokeres. However, there are other teams in the mix ready to prevent that from happening.

We know about his desire to play for Arsenal, but it doesn't look like the Gunners are going to make something happen for him. Well, what about the reigning league champs entering the race? In a bit of a stunner, recent reports out of Portugal have stated that Liverpool is eyeing a potential move.

We don't have to tell you that this would be the worst-case scenario for the Red Devils. Could you imagine if Gyokeres not only doesn't end up signing with MUFC, but he then ends up joining the club's hated rival instead? Everyone in Manchester would probably be ready to go into panic mode.

Liverpool has reportedly entered the race for Man United target Viktor Gyokeres

Darwin Nunez could be leaving Liverpool this summer, which would open the door for a replacement to come in. Enter Gyokeres? We sure hope not, as this would be a double-dose of bad news for Ruben Amorim and his club.

As things stand, Manchester United has made things official with Matheus Cunha and the EPL giants are on the verge of finalizing things with Bryan Mbeumo as well. That's a solid start to the transfer window, but more help is definitely needed after such an embarrassing 2024-25 season was posted.

When it comes to help up front, Gyokeres is considered the top target for MUFC, though Victor Osimhen rumors continue to pop up. Regardless, a splash needs to be made at striker before the window comes to a close. The pressure is on for Amorim and Co. to deliver for the United faithful.

Only time will tell if that happens or not, but now seemingly out of nowhere United fans have to worry about Liverpool ruining dreams across the board. Seeing Gyokeres join LFC simply can't happen. If anything, this should force United to speed things up with its efforts to bring Gyokeres to Old Trafford.
