That headline isn't just clickbait as Jadon Sancho is without a doubt the worst signing Manchester United have ever made. The English winger has not only flopped but been detrimental from a financial standpoint as well as in the dressing room.

Sancho was one of the most highly-rated attackers in Europe during his time at Borussia Dortmund, flourishing out wide at Signal Iduna Park. His stellar showings put several clubs on alert, including United who swooped in the summer of 2021.

Sancho is United's biggest-ever let down

The Red Devils forked out £73m for Sancho with the belief that he could be the answer for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the right-wing. He struggled to impress from the off and many were willing to give him time to adapt to life at Old Trafford.

That was until the 25-year-old started causing mischief behind-the-scenes, irking Erik ten Hag with his lack of proffesionalism. He was exiled from the first-team after calling the Dutch coach 'a liar' and claiming he'd been made a 'scapegoat'.

Sancho was then handed loans to Dortmund and Chelsea but the Blues paid a £5m penalty fee to prevent a £25m obligation to buy from going through, which is simply unheard of.

Sancho just won't leave

Somehow Sancho remains a United player as of mid-August 2025 despite not playing a Premier League game for the club since August 2023. His last competitive appearance came in the 2024 Community Shield, missing a penalty in the defeat to Manchester City.

The Englishman has been offered constant routes out of Old Trafford this summer. Turkish giants Besiktas are willing to reunite him with Solskjaer but he's reportedly not considering a move to Turkiye before September with the Turkish transfer window open until September 12, per Fabrizio Romano.

Serie A giants AS Roma have already reached an agreement with United to buy him for £20m. But the deal looks to be off because Sancho once again is refusing to accept a wage cut, wanting to continue earning £250,000 (per Capology) and continue ruining his footballing reputation.

Why Sancho is the worst of the worst

United have encountered some flops during their time, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Radamel Falcao. But Sancho takes the cake because he's literally taken the mickey out of the club with his actions.

Fans are getting irritated with Alejandro Garnacho but Sancho remains the worst of Ruben Amorim's 'bomb squad'. He is the example of the type of player the club should try their utmost never to bring to Old Trafford ever again.
