Ollie Watkins might have been convinced not to join Man United. Unsurprisingly, it was Aston Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor who did the talking.

Over the last few days, Ollie Watkins has slowly climbed the pecking order of Man United's striker hunt. Where a few weeks ago, he wasn't even considered as an option, he's now being spoken about quite prolifically in the Man United sphere.

Of course, fans will be sceptical until any official bid is made, but according to Laurie Whitwell at least, he's being considered as an option should Man United lose out on Rasmus Hojlund this summer.

Ollie Watkins warned not to join Man United

Not if Aston Villa legend Gabriel Agbonlahor, who made an impressive 300+ league appearances for Aston Villa, has anything to do with it, though.

The long-term Aston Villa servant turned talkSPORT pundit had some scathing words to say which should hit Man United like a ton of bricks. He said that if anything, moving from Aston Villa to Man United is a step backwards.

In his own words, Agbonlahor said: "I feel like moving to Manchester United [from Aston Villa] is a move backwards... If you wanted to leave, he'd go to a Champions League club, not Manchester United."

It hurts, but Agbonlahor's right

Given Man United's current position, it's hard to find any sort of claw back here.

Man United had a woeful showing last time out. They finished close to the bottom of the Premier League table and made fools of themselves in the Europa League final. I know, I know, reaching the Europa League final is an achievement in itself, but that was one of the worst finals ever.

And Agbonlahor isn't the only professional to take a dig at Man United recently. He can join the pretty illustrious list including Thomas Muller, who recently laughed off the thought of playing for Man United.

It's "everyone points and laughs at Man United" season, and the club should be embarrassed, not the fans.
