Antony's price tag has come back to bite Man United in the backside again. Due to the price they paid, Brentford believe Bryan Mbuemo is worth more to United.

Over the last week or so, one name that has dominated the Man United space is Bryan Mbuemo. The Brentford attacker is believed to be on his way to Man United, if all the signs are being read correctly.

Bryan Mbuemo would prefer to join Man United over Tottenham if he is to leave Brentford. However, Man United needs to up their game if they are to sign him, as they've already learned.

Brentford reject Man United's first Bryan Mbuemo proposals

According to a transfer update from David Ornstein, there is still a difference in valuation between Man United and Brentford for the signing of Bryan Mbuemo.

Man United value Mbuemo at proposals of £45m+£10m & £55m+£7.5m, but these haven't been accepted by Brentford. Understandably, Brentford want as much for their star player, especially if they're selling to a team in the Premier League.

So, now, Man United's next step is clear: they must up their game and up their bid if they are to land their next dream signing. From a fan perspective, this seems like a no-brainer, and all the eyes will be on Sir Jim Ratcliffe to put his money where his mouth is.

Brentford throw Antony's price tag in Man United's face

According to an update from Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, Man United can blame themselves for not landing Bryan Mbuemo at a low price.

In essence, Romano believes that Brentford value Mbuemo at a higher rate, due to the price which Man United has paid for their players in the past.

Of course, Man United has spent a pretty penny on players who couldn't even tie Mbuemo's laces. The most glaring example is Antony, who performed at an all-time low at Old Trafford but then went on to shine in La Liga.

Look, this is a reality that Man United must face. They shot themselves in the feet when they spent this amount of money on players in the past because now, teams they're negotiating with can use this as a weapon to up the price of their own players.

That said, Bryan Mbuemo is worth his weight in gold. While it's frustrating, Man United should lean more into Brentford's valuation. He has all the capability in the world to be United's game-changer.
