After his side’s 3-0 victory away to Everton, United boss Erik ten Hag took the opportunity to praise his side for being “brave, proactive and dynamic” while also warning his side against complacency as they face into a huge week.

Speaking to Sky Sports reporters, he said that he was unimpressed by how his side ceded the initiative to Everton after such a bright start.

“I criticised the team at half-time, they think they are already there. You can’t do it. You have to bring initiative in and out of possession for 100 minutes”.  The criticism had the desired effect and United closed out the victory with a much improved performance and two more goals.

The identity of the goal scorers pleased ten Hag as his front three notched a goal each in The Red Devil’s biggest win of the season –“Our 3 offensive players scored, that is what we need, that helps us as a team”.

Manchester United defeated Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park thanks to goals from Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Erik ten Hag gave a full debut to 18 year old Kobbie Mainoo but it was another Carrington graduate, Garnacho who stole the show with a spectacular opener. His bicycle kick in the third minute of the game was described as “probably the goal of the season already” by his manager.

The win moves United into 6th place in the Premier League and the Dutchman hopes the win can be a sign of things to come ahead of a do-or-die Champion League fixture with Galatasaray in Istanbul on Wednesday night. The boss added “that will give them confidence and we have to take that into our next game.”
