Mason Mount, formerly of Chelsea, returned to action for the first time since getting injured in the loss against Tottenham before the last international break. In the 3-0 Carabao Cup win against Crystal Palace on Tuesday, Mount grabbed an assist and also a hand to play in the opening goal.
In his first month or so, Mount struggled to adapt to the new midfield he finds himself playing in. Yesterday provided much of a more balanced performance from the Englishman, as he made his comeback albeit against a weaker Eagles side.
United fans will be yearning for more, as they return to Old Trafford on Saturday to face Crystal Palace again; but this time in the Premier League.
However, Chelsea fans may want to look away…
According to X’s Statman Dave, Mason Mount has scored or assisted (1) in more goals than the ENTIRE Chelsea team has managed altogether in the month of September – despite missing much of the month due to injury.
Mount will be looking to add to that statistic at the weekend, pushing for a start despite being taken off on Tuesday by Erik Ten Hag. After the game it was revealed that the substitution was pre-planned as Mount looks to regain his full level of fitness.
The Red Devils will be looking to make it 3 wins on the bounce in all competitions for the first time this season at the weekend.
