The fallout from Jadon Sancho and his fallout with Erik Ten Hag continues, as Manchester United finally issued an official statement on the matter.
A club statement on Thursday afternoon stated that the player will be training away from the first team on an individual programme. A timeframe has not been placed, but Jadon Sancho will not be available for selection for the foreseeable future until a resolution is reached.
We recently wrote about a few different ways that this scenario could play out, but it seems we are just left with two:
One resolution could be that both parties agree to move on and out the issue behind them. At the moment, it seems like that could be a possibility as long as Sancho eats humble pie quietly. Ten Hag has developed a history of not backing down when it comes to internal issues, notably the drama of Cristiano Ronaldo earlier last year.
The other is that this has shut the door on Jadon Sancho’s career at Old Trafford. Given that the player has now removed his social media post, it could be a sign that he could be given another chance at the club to rediscover his old form.
Now that both Antony and Sancho are unavailable for this weekend’s game against Brighton and with the Champions League campaign kicking off soon, it gives the likes of Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo (pending injury return) a clear run at starting games and showing the world – and Ten Hag – exactly what they are about.
