Report: Sergio Reguilon passes United medical ahead of loan move
Tottenham Hotspur fullback Sergio Reguilon has completed his medical ahead of a loan move to Manchester United, according to The Athletic.
United are in search of a left-back after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. Marc Cucurella from Chelsea was also on Ten Hag’s agenda initially, but talks have failed due to no agreement over the loan fee.
The move for Sergio Reguilon would reportedly be a straight loan move with no obligation or option to buy, and a break clause will be inserted for January. The Spanish fullback spent last season on loan to Atletico Madrid after falling out of favour at Spurs.
The move is about as good as United will get this late into the window. United were interested in signing Reguilon before his move to Spurs, but opted for Alex Telles instead. One element that was key to not signing Reguilon was Real Madrid’s desire to add a buyback clause for the player. If Ten Hag can get him back to playing the football he did two years ago, the move will provide a good cover option at left back.
The Red Devils are also pursuing Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina as they are short on midfielders and have been admirers of the Moroccan midfielder since the start of the transfer window.
