Mason Mount will be missing out of action for longer than anticipated. The new signing is expected to be out of action for around 4-6 weeks, despite United announcing that he will be out until just after the international break.
During Manchester United’s last match against Tottenham Hotspur, the alarm bells were ringing because Mason Mount was withdrawn in the 85th minute because of an injury.
The English player will miss be missing for United against Nottingham Forest this weekend and Arsenal in the Emirates Stadium at the very least. Manchester United has lost a crucial piece in the midfield because Mount has gone straight into Erik Ten Hag’s strongest starting 11. This is despite the ex-Chelsea player taking much of the criticism that has come in United’s opening two games for leaving Casemiro exposed.
United have different players in that part of the field, but not with the same characteristics as Mason. With the recently departed Fred, the fans wonder what idea will come into Ten Hag’s and if he will resort to how the midfield operated last season as opposed to the quick transitional setup deployed by Ten Hag so far this campaign.
The default strategy is expecting that the Dutch manager will put Christian Eriksen in the position where Mount plays and keep Bruno Fernandes as the leading attack in the midfield.
