Manchester United have accepted a bid of €15million for Brazilian midfielder Fred, according to BBC.

A few clubs have been yearning for Fred’s signature – such as Fulham, Galatasaray and a number of French clubs – but Turkish side Fenerbahçe have struck a deal with United for a moderate fee.

The 29 year old is not in manager Erik Ten Hag’s plan, and the Dutchman is revamping his midfield ahead of the new season. It looks likely that neither Fred, Scott McTominay or Donny Van De Beek will be at the club for much longer as the United manager looks for ways to fund his transfer targets.

On top of that list is Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, so a confirmation of Fred’s departure will set the ball rolling for United to move for the Moroccan man. On that target list is also Romeo Latvia and Amadou Onana, so that should set up an interesting August in the transfer market for United yet.

As for Fred, it brings to a close a temperamental time at Old Trafford. He is a player that was quite close to being marmite – you either love him or hate him. Often used in a utility role, he brought a level of energy, passion and often debauchery that was unmatched at times. He may not have lived up to the £56m tag that the Red Devils paid Shakhtar Donetsk for him in 2018, but he leaves us with some vibrant memories.
