Manchester United is still waiting for David De Gea to sign the contract renovation, but because of this delay, the Red Devils have put their eyes on another goalkeeper for next season. The player that has been named, this last couple of days is André Onana from Inter Milan. But the Italian club has made it clear that they will only sell him, for a price higher than $50 million.
What difference will he bring to United?
The former Ajax player is well-known for being good with his feet at the time when playing with the defender from behind or giving a long pass that could reach the attackers so he can control it and continue the attack. This is a strong point for his signing because De Gea has been criticized in the last couple of years, for his poor performance when playing with his feet.
The advantage that the Spanish goalkeeper has against Onana, is the clean sheets, where De Gea has 23 in the 55 games he disputed this season, compared to Onana, who has 16 in the 36 games he has played this season.
What are the numbers between De Gea and Onana?
The former Atletico Madrid has a clear advantage with the minute they have been inside the pitch, with 4.620 minutes disputed throughout this season, while the former Barcelona Acadeny player has played 3.180 minutes for Inter Milan in the 22/23 season. But the Cameroonian has conceded fewer goals than De Gea, leaving his goal with a total of 16 goals conceded while David left United with the amount of 55 goals conceded.
Who else is in the race for André Onana?
Manchester United isn’t the only club that has Onana on their list for the next transfer window, Chelsea is the other club that wants the services of the goalkeeper, as they want to step up that position with this player, as Kepa has not been the perfect player for “The Blues”.
Would you sign Onana or would you go after another goalkeeper if De Gea doesn’t renovate his contract?
