Manchester United could potentially secure their summer transfer target Moises Caicedo for a fee of £80million, despite the midfielder having recently signed a new contract with Brighton, according to Football Insider. The 21-year-old has been the subject of interest from several top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

Brighton rejected a reported £70million bid from Arsenal for Caicedo in January, and sources indicate that the Seagulls are open to offers for the player, despite his new contract which runs until 2027. The Ecuadorian international has impressed in his debut season in the Premier League, contributing one goal and one assist in 27 appearances, and has also represented his country on 30 occasions.

Manchester United are in the market for a new midfielder

Despite signing new terms, Caicedo is still expected to field offers from several top clubs in the offseason, with United among them. Scott McTominay has been the subject of interest from Newcastle United and West Ham, leaving Manchester United on the hunt for midfield reinforcements, with Caicedo seen as a viable option.

With Marcel Sabitzer set to return to parent club Bayern Munich at the end of this season,  United are keen to bolster their midfield, and Caicedo is seen as a potential solution. The player’s impressive performances in his debut season in the Premier League have not gone unnoticed, and he has attracted interest from several clubs, despite his tender age.

Brighton have had a good season, currently sitting in 8th place in the Premier League, and the help of Caicedo has been significant. Manchester United is currently fourth in the Premier League table, and the addition of Caicedo could strengthen their midfield and improve their squad depth for next season’s Champions League football.
