Manchester United could be set for a major overhaul in the summer as Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim’s team is reportedly sounding out fellow Qatari owners of Paris Saint-Germain in an attempt to sign Neymar, according to The Sun. Sheikh Jassim is one of two parties interested in taking control of Manchester United and has submitted a third and final offer for the club, which is believed to be worth up to £5.5bn to tempt the Glazers to sell the club.

The potential signing of Neymar would be a statement of intent from Manchester United’s new owners and would likely come with a hefty price tag. Neymar’s contract at PSG runs through 2025, so United will probably have to spend a significant amount of money to secure the Brazilian’s services. However, if the takeover goes through, finances should not be a problem.

The proposed takeover by Sheikh Jassim has been making headlines for weeks, and the latest developments suggest that the deal could be nearing its conclusion. The Qatari banker is believed to be keen to take control of Manchester United and has made it clear that he is willing to pay top dollar to do so.

The Glazer family, who currently own the Manchester side, have been the subject of much criticism from the club’s fans in recent years. The proposed takeover by Sheikh Jassim and his team could provide a fresh start for the club, and the potential signing of Neymar would certainly be a statement of intent.

It remains to be seen whether the takeover will happen, and whether Neymar will end up at Old Trafford. However, the latest developments suggest that Manchester United could be set for a major shakeup in the coming months.
