Newcastle United are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. According to Football Insider, the Magpies have intensified their pursuit of the Scottish international, who has struggled for regular playing time under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
McTominay has found himself out of favour at Manchester, with the club reportedly looking to sign Marcel Sabziter from Bayern Munich on a permanent deal at the end of the season. As a result, a move away from Old Trafford for McTominay looks increasingly likely this summer, despite the fact that he has a contract with the club until 2025.
Newcastle have increased their interest in Manchester United star
Newcastle United are said to be keen on bringing McTominay to St James’ Park, and have been pushing ahead with a deal for the midfielder. The 24-year-old would add some much-needed quality to the Newcastle midfield, and his experience in the Premier League would make him a valuable addition to the squad.
It remains to be seen whether the Manchester Giants will be willing to sell McTominay, but if the player is not part of their plans for next season, a move away from the club could be on the cards. Ten Hag is currently exploring the market for midfield reinforcements which could add further pressure on McTominay to strongly consider his future elsewhere.
Newcastle will be hoping to take advantage of the situation and secure the signing of the talented midfielder, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. Currently sitting third on the Premier League table, ahead of Man United, Newcastle could be a perfect new start for the young midfielder to provide his worth.
Should Erik ten Hag consider the sale of Scott McTominay if the Magpies offer a good deal or is the 24-year-old still worthy of a spot at United?
