Manchester United are already planning for the summer transfer window with the signing of a prolific striker being the priority of coach Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils are in dire need of an additional goalscorer as the reliance on winger Marcus Rashford could prove to be problematic for next season, especially with the possibility of Champions League football.
Rashford has been in tremendous form this season, scoring 27 goals and providing 9 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for the Manchester side. But the 25-year-old is being heavily relied on for goals with skipper Bruno Fernandes being the second-highest goalscorer for the squad with 10 goals. Ten Hag recognises this as a major concern and has made the signing of a striker his top priority.
While the arrival of a new owner could potentially mean a massive transfer budget for the summer window, the Dutch boss doesn’t want to solely rely on uncertainties and is considering making sales in order to fund his plans.
Manchester United could sell Jadon Sancho for a new goalscorer
According to The Sun (via Fichajes), Jadon Sancho’s future at Old Trafford is becoming uncertain with each passing day with Ten Hag reportedly disappointed with the English international. The former Borussia Dortmund superstar joined United in 2021 for a fee of €85 million but has failed to prove his worth, with only 10 goals and 4 assists to his name in 65 appearances for the club.
The Red Devils are now considering the possibility of selling the 23-year-old in order to guarantee funds for a prolific striker with Tottenham Hotspur‘s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen being named the two lead candidates. While the Manchester giants are expecting an offer of around €50 million, the reality is that the winger’s recent performances could make it difficult to demand such a price-tag.
Should Manchester United sell Jadon Sancho this summer?
