Hannibal Mejbri

Funnily enough, the one player who might make Mainoo’s ascent to the first team difficult is Hannibal Mejbri.

Ever since he signed for the club from Monaco in a highly touted deal worth up to €10 million Mejbri’s name has elicited excitement from United’s coaches.

He made his United debut at the age of just 17 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. Mejbri is already a key player for his national side, Tunisia, bossing games in the middle of the park against seasoned internationals.

Having excelled in the youth set-up, Mejbri has also excelled at loan this season at Birmingham. Having his first taste of senior football, Mejbri has looked unfazed.

With his trademark tough playing style combined with moments of guile and supreme technique, he has become a fan favourite at Birmingham even though the team has struggled.

Pre-season would again be crucial for Hannibal. If he shows out and grabs games by the scruff of the neck as he can, then it is unlikely that United send him on loan again.
