Manchester United starlet to miss several weeks through injury
Manchester United teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho is set to miss several upcoming games through an injury sustained in his club’s draw versus rock-bottom Southampton over the weekend.
The 18-year-old had to come off the game in the 73rd minute following a lunging challenge by Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters. It appeared that Garnacho was in dire pain and was seen leaving Old Trafford in crutches after the game.
The Argentinian was called up for International duty for friendlies this month and this was a potential chance when he could have made his debut for his country. It was an unfortunate event for Garnacho as he has been consistent with his growth this season and seemed to make the first team on a more regular basis from next season.
"“It is difficult to put into words how I’m feeling right now,” said Garnacho.“Unfortunately I will not be able to help my team and team-mates in the upcoming games in what is a very important part of the season for us at Manchester United.”“I am disappointed to also miss the opportunity to be with my team mates of the Argentinian national team in what would have been a great and proud moment for me and my family,”“This is part of football and our profession, however, I am already focused in my recovery.”"
Meanwhile, The Reds are happy with the teenage sensation’s growth trajectory and manager Erik Ten Hag wants him on the side for the foreseeable future. United have already initiated contract renewal talks in the last few days and the player is expected to commit his long-term future to his childhood club very soon.
Kyle Walker-Peters was subjected to terrible racial abuse from several people on social media. While pundits have condemned the abuses targeting the Saints’ defender, it is completely unacceptable and the Premier League should take appropriate measures to bring the abusers to justice.
"“It would never be my intention to injure a fellow professional I wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you back in action as soon as possible.”"
These were the words of Walker-Peters who wished Garnacho a speedy recovery.
