Manchester United are in need of midfield reinforcements as the lack of depth in the current squad is making life difficult for coach Erik ten Hag. The long-term injuries to both Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen made the Dutch boss bring Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on a loan deal in the winter transfer window.

With the loanee yet to settle in at Old Trafford, Ten Hag’s recent starting XI has made it clear that the Brazilian internationals Fred and Casemiro are his preferred pairing for his midfield, with skipper Bruno Fernandes playing up front as the attacking midfielder.

With the intention of bringing midfield reinforcements in the summer transfer window, the former Ajax manager shortlisted both Borussia Dortmund‘s Jude Bellingham and Barcelona‘s Frenkie de Jong as his primary targets. However, with both deals becoming more and more complicated, the Red Devils have started exploring other options.

Manchester United plotting deal for Juventus midfielder

Football Insider reports that the Manchester side are reigniting interest in Juventus star Adrien Rabiot with the 27-year-old becoming a free agent this summer. The French international was reportedly close to a move to Old Trafford last summer but a deal couldn’t be finalized despite a transfer fee being agreed upon.

Rabiot is now open to leaving the Italian giants in the hopes of securing a massive deal with both United and Manchester City keeping a close eye on his situation. The midfielder recently opened up about his future stating,

"“I wanna play Champions League, it will be crucial point to make a decision on my future” said Rabiot“New deal with Juventus? There are no recent talks but we’ve time to do that, there’s no news at this stage”.Source Fabrizio Romano"

With Juventus sitting 12 points behind the top four in Serie A after points deduction due to financial irregularities, the Frenchman could potentially be on his way out of Turin with United now reportedly preparing an offer.
