Manchester United are in need of a prolific striker with Marcus Rashford currently filling the role under Erik ten Hag.  The 25-year-old winger has been on terrific form this season, scoring 25 goals and providing 9 assists in 39 appearances (via TransferMarkt).

While the dream to win the quadruple lives on, United’s legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson recently shared his concerns regarding the lack of goalscorers in the squad. The injury crisis to Anthony Martial forced the Dutch boss into signing Wout Weghorst on loan in the January transfer market. However, the 30-year-old has only scored 1 goal in 13 appearances since his arrival.

While big-name signings like Tottenham Hotspur‘s Harry Kane, AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen along with youngster Benjamin Sesko, have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford, a new name has now emerged.

Manchester United to battle Atletico Madrid for World Cup winner

Fichajes report that the Premier League giants have decided to join Atletico Madrid in pursuit of 2022 World Cup winner Paulo Dybala.

The Argentine international has been in great form this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 7 assists in 24 appearances under Jose Mourinho. And while the Portuguese coach would want to keep the 29-year-old at AS Roma, the forward’s contract has a termination clause worth €12 million.

Reports suggest that Atletico Madrid have identified the World Cup winner as the ideal low-cost signing for the summer with both Inter Milan and Man United showing interest. The La Liga giants are in financial hardship and require to make sales before signing reinforcements in the next transfer window but with a low cost of 12 million euros, Dybala provides a great solution to this problem.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag is keen on signing a prolific striker and while many names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, the Argentine forward could be a great investment to add depth to the current squad.
