Manchester United optimistic about signing West Ham superstar
Manchester United are in a tough situation regarding their midfield this season. The injuries sustained by Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen forced Erik ten Hag to bring Marcel Sabitzer on loan, with a buy option, from Bayern Munich.
While the Dutch boss has found major success with his Brazilian pairing of Casemiro and Fred, the lack of depth in the midfield can prove to be one of the biggest concerns in their attempt to win a quadruple this season.
The former Ajax boss is adamant about bringing reinforcements in the summer transfer window with the West Ham star Declan Rice being named the ideal signing.
Manchester United confident about Declan Rice transfer
Football Insider reports that the Premier League giants are optimistic about securing the 24-year-old, whose contract with the Hammers expires in the summer of 2024.
The England international has been rumored to want to remain at West Ham but Ten Hag is still optimistic about the situation especially with the London side in threat of relegation this season. Manager David Moyes previously demanded £150 million for the maestro but does have the option to extend his contract by 12 months amidst interest from multiple European giants.
Last May, Rice rejected an 8-year contract renewal worth £83 million which would have made him the richest play in the club’s history. The talented midfielder remains keen on wanting to play in the Champions League especially to increase his playtime on the international level.
United are reportedly keen on his move and could potentially make an offer in the summer that could tempt the 24-year-old to make a switch to Old Trafford for Champions League football with one of the world’s biggest clubs.
