After clinching the EFL cup this past weekend, Manchester United will aim to edge closer to another Wembley final when they face West Ham in the FA Cup fifth round.

Both teams are at different extremes of the Premier League table, while United have rejuvenated well from last season, the Hamerers are enduring a suffocating one. Though David Moyes’ side has steered clear of relegation for now, they remain under threat as two points separate them from 18th-placed Everton.

Meanwhile, West Ham will aim to stave off Man United and avoid a third successive elimination from this stage of the FA Cup.

Let us look at the team news from the two teams involved:

Manchester United Team News

The Reds have had a thick run of games to cover recently and safe to say, they came out well enough than expected. In his pre-match press conference, Erik Ten Hag assessed the team’s performance from the Carabao Cup final and moved on to the upcoming fixture.

He said:

"“Of course, yesterday [Monday], the players were still enthusiastic and they had to celebrate this momentum,” said Ten Hag at his pre-match press conference. “But, yesterday, after we settled down, we get back to work. What we had to do was recovery and the ones who played less did a good training session.”"

The fitness of Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Fred remains in question and Ten Hag possibly ruled them out for the match without stating confidently:

"“Anthony Martial is not available and Luke Shaw and Fred are questions for tomorrow [Wednesday],” confirmed the manager."

First-team players like Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen are set to be sidelined from this fixture with long-term injuries.

New signing Marcel Sabitzer and Scott McTominay who looks fully fit from injury is expected to start the match as the dutch manager hopes to rest some of his regular players.

In attack, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho may be given the nod after promising performances in the last few games.
