Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the contract situation of Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane in the hopes of a summer transfer.
The 29-year-old has a contract that expires in 2024 and while Spurs are keen on renewing their skipper, United are open to considering a potential move as their hunt for a prolific striker continues.
Manchester United considering approaching Harry Kane
Football Insider report that Man United are monitoring Kane’s contract situation with Spurs while Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have also shown interest. Erik ten Hag is keen on securing a prolific striker in the summer transfer window as the squad’s biggest weakness is having a single goalscorer in Marcus Rashford.
While the 25-year-old has found great success switching into the striker’s position under the former Ajax coach, scoring 25 goals in 38 appearances, he is a traditional winger. The English international has become the most in-form player currently, and while he is helping the team achieve their goals this season, the Dutch boss knows the importance of having a proper no. 9.
Harry Kane was heavily linked with an exit two seasons ago, when Manchester City readied a £100million bid which was rejected by the North London side. While that worked out great for City who eventually signed Erling Haaland, United are yet to secure a striker of their own.
Victor Osimhen has been a name linked with a move to Old Trafford as he has been identified to be the perfect goalscorer for United. The Nigerian international is the leading goalscorer in Serie A with 19 goals in 20 appearances this season. However, Napoli are not keen on seeing their superstar leave which has made Ten Hag consider alternatives for the summer.
