Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign La Liga starlet Gabriel ‘Gabri’ Veiga along with other Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Newcastle United.
According to a report from the Spanish media outlet AS, Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United have registered a primary interest in the current Celta Vigo prodigy. Gabri Veiga didn’t even have an official squad number at the start of the season but now after six months, he is playing an influential role for the Los Celestes.
Six goals and two assists have made the Pontevedra central midfielder Celta Vigo’s most decisive player after star forward and former Liverpool man Iago Aspas. The 20-year-old has been overlooked by Spanish giants like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid but the player’s dream of someday playing in the Premier League remains intact.
As of now, Newcastle United are the only club to send scouts to the Spanish province of Balaidos to watch Veiga play against Atleti while clubs like Man United and Arsenal have held a less serious stance for the player.
Celta Vigo are expected to make this starlet the most expensive sale in their history and are tilted to announce a market price of around 30 million euros for the central midfielder. Apart from the interest from several top clubs from around Europe, new Spain National Team manager, Luis de la Fuente has kept Veiga under a primary watch to potentially induct him into first-team duties for La Roja.
United are predicted to make a few more signings before the start of next season and Erik Ten Hag will surely keep the Spaniard under his watchful eyes before going in an official way.
