Manchester United will face La Liga outfits Real Betis in the Round of 16 stages of the UEFA Europa League.

After making an exuberant comeback at the Old Trafford against Spanish league leaders FC Barcelona last night, Manchester United found out about their next-stage opponents in the Europa League today.

Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring through a penalty in the 18th minute and Barcelona hoped to pass the ball around and grab the necessary win. But the Catalans’ aspirations went all in vain when Fred in the 43rd minute initiated the comeback. Antony’s strike gave Man United the lead and Barcelona were bedazzled as Old Trafford erupted following the Brazilian’s goal.

Safe to say, Erik Ten Hag has turned things around quickly for The Red Devils as they still remain in ambitious aspirations of securing the Quadruplet. A massive game awaits them on Sunday when they face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final and Ten Hag’s men will aim to showcase their rejuvenation with a mid-season title.

Manchester United are set to face Real Betis on the evening of 9th March. Real Betis have enjoyed a big revamp under manager Manuel Pellegrini from last season as they now sit 5th in the La Liga standings, hoping to secure Champions League football at the end of the long season.

The Verdiblanco are four points off 4th placed Atletico Madrid who are currently at 41 points. They have consolidated their place as a regular competitor for European Football since last season. Often acting as a dark horse for any competition they play, Manuel Pellegrini and his Real Betis side will be up for this challenge against Man United over the two legs.
