Ten Hag provides an update on Manchester United squad ahead of Barcelona clash
Premier League side Manchester United will look to have the Old Trafford backing them when they lock horns with Barcelona.
Manchester United have undergone a massive renovation under new manager Erik Ten Hag and now they are in a place to really position themselves as serious contenders for silverware.
While they are only 5 points from the league leaders Arsenal in the English Premier League, the Dutch manager is aiming to go further into Europe and possibly challenge for the Europa League trophy.
Erik Ten Hag provided an update in his pre-match conference about explaining the fitness of certain players and their availability for this match.
Captain Harry Maguire and Antony can be expected to feature versus Barcelona as there is still a training session to go.
Erik Ten Hag said:
"“There’s still a training session to go but I expect Harry Maguire and Antony dos Santos [to be] available,” the manager told reporters. “Anthony Martial is not available.“He’s back on the pitch but not in the team training, so we’ll wait for that. What [will] we do differently? You will see tomorrow, on the pitch. We have an idea of course, but of course we can’t tell [you] that now.”"
Apart from this crucial update of the team, Ten Hag also conveyed to the press his desire to make Manchester United, a club beating for titles and the fixture against Barcelona would be perfect test for them to prove their revival.
"“We have to go from game to game as the focus, but especially, you have to keep in the same mindset that every day we want to give a better version of ourselves.“When you are facing such big teams as Barcelona, you have to play your best, otherwise you don’t have a chance. So, we want to get through, to get to the next round and we have to give the best performance from this season. We believe in it, we’re looking forward to it, so it gives us a lot of energy.”"
