Manchester United are in tremendous form recently, still in contention to achieve a remarkable quadruple this season. The squad have really transformed under former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag and despite finding recent success, the Dutch coach will definitely use the summer transfer window to further strengthen his side.
The reported agenda is that the Red Devils are keen on signing a new striker, midfielder, and centre-back in the next transfer window to bolster the squad’s depth. While the arrival of Christian Eriksen along with loanees Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst in the last window has provided the much-needed depth, Manchester United have reportedly decided to join the race to secure Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio in the summer transfer window.
The Spaniard’s current contract concludes in June and the 27-year-old is expected to depart Los Blancos with both AC Milan and Arsenal already preparing an offer. TheUnitedStand (via Todofichajes) reports that United are now willing to join the battle.
Manchester United want to sign a new right-wing
The right-wing role at Old Trafford has been a complicated one for Ten Hag. The arrival of Antony from Ten Hag’s former side Ajax was meant to resolve the issue but the Brazilian international has struggled with multiple injuries this season which forced both Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes to fill the position. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Anthony Elanga is yet to establish himself under Ten Hag, given only 22 minutes in the league this season.
Asensio has now been identified as the best option to play as backup to injury-prone Antony with United’s two former Real Madrid players Casemiro and Raphael Varane being key in convincing the Spanish international to join the Premier League side on a free transfer in the summer.
