Manchester United have an interesting squad at the moment. There are several players that have come during the time of Erik ten Hag as manager. On the other hand, there are many more who have been brought in by previous ones, as the Red Devils have not been able to stick to a manager for long since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, as a direct consequence of their lack of success on the pitch over the past decade or so.
Manchester United have not won a trophy in five years now, with their last piece of silverware coming under the management of Jose Mourinho. If Ten Hag is to end the managerial merry-go-round at the club, he will need to win some himself.
A lot of players are thriving under Ten Hag’s management, who had struggled in the past, like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Diogo Dalot to name a few. On the other hand, one man who was expected to have a career revival following the arrival of the Dutchman but has not, is Donny van de Beek.
Van de Beek had played the best football of his career at Ajax under the management of Ten Hag. That has not translated to an increase in chances at Manchester United, although he has not been helped by injury.
Many clubs would be interested in Van de Beek if he leaves Manchester United
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, transfer insider Dean Jones said about the Van de Beek situation:
"“The squad will be tested so much in the coming weeks with the amount of games and the intensity of the matches.“He has to be given an opportunity and if that’s not the case, there’s going to be a queue of clubs waiting to find out what his situation is in January.”"
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Van de Beek has made 3 appearances and played 19 minutes of football in total this season.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Van de Beek at Manchester United. We will get a clearer picture of his place in Ten Hag’s plans, once the midfielder is fully fit.
