Manchester United eyeing striker with Cristiano Ronaldo future in doubt
It is safe to say that Manchester United have improved under the management of Erik ten Hag. Yet, as the 6-3 defeat vs Manchester City showed, they still have a long way to go before they can even think about competing for the Premier League title.
One of the areas which might need a revamp soon is striker. Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club is in doubt and unless he completes an incredible turnaround soon, it would be safe to assume that he is on his way out of Old Trafford sooner rather than later.
On the other hand, we have seen Anthony Martial do well this season till now, but the sample size is very small and after so many years at Manchester United, it has become pretty clear that the Frenchman is not the most consistent of players and is not somebody who can be relied upon to lead the line for a side with Premier League aspirations.
Thus, the Red Devils could do with another striker and as reported by CalcioMercato, Manchester United have eyes on Ivan Toney. Leeds United, Newcastle United and West Ham United are also being linked with him, while Brentford are working to secure a new contract with the Englishman.
Manchester United have eyes on Toney
Toney had a decent 2021/22 campaign with Brentford and has been in top form this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 6 goals and provided 3 assists in 10 appearances across all competitions till now.
Thus, somebody like Toney seems ready for a big move and could be an excellent addition for a club like Manchester United.
There is quite some interest in his signature though and Brentford are also keen to keep hold of him. Thus, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Toney.
