When Manchester United signed Donny van de Beek from Ajax in the summer of 2020, it was considered as a brilliant move on the part of the Red Devils. It was expected that he would become a key part of the team in the future. Unfortunately, things did not go quite as planned for the Dutchman.

His move to Manchester United coincided with an upturn in form for Paul Pogba. As a result, Van de Beek did not get a lot of chances straight off the bat. And his playing time only reduced in the following campaign.

A loan move to Everton in early 2022 was not successful either. Many people believed continued to hold onto hope though that he would rediscover his form under the management of Erik ten Hag, who had been instrumental in his rise at Ajax.

Yet, Van de Beek continues to struggle for playing time and now, it looks like his Manchester United career could be on the verge of coming to an end.

As reported by 90min, Van de Beek has been granted permission to leave Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window.

Van de Beek was an excellent player at Ajax, who was not only successful in domestic competitions but was instrumental in them making the UEFA Champions League semi-finals some years back as well.

Thus, if Van de Beek does leave Manchester United in January, there should not be a lack of suitors for his signature, despite the fact that he has been in poor form for more than two years now and barely featured.

Let’s see what the future holds for Van de Beek but at this point, a move away from Manchester United as soon as possible makes sense for all parties involved.
